MaKayla Bartels grew up Grand Island, NE. She is an alumnus of Hastings College, class of 2014. While at Hastings College, she studied psychology, Christian ministry, & studio art. MaKayla has ten years of experience working with children & youth of all ages in an educational setting. Following graduation, she taught “Art As A Coping Method” to adults with mental illness at South Central Behavioral Health Services in Hastings. She also dedicated her Sundays to teaching an art elective for young adults aging out of the foster care system at the Maryland Living Center in conjunction with C.A.S.A.
MaKayla held an interim position as the Children & Family Director at Westminster in 2015- 2016. Since then she has lived in Georgia & gotten married. In her free time, MaKayla’s hobbies include baking & expanding her art portfolio for graduate school. Her hope is to one day become a Clinical Mental Health Specialist with emphasis in Art Therapy.
