This workshop\, that will feel like a retreat\, explores the dance between contemplation\, community\, and scripture. \nThis event is for anyone interested in Christian contemplative prayer\, its practice & possibilities in the Church and community\, and the formative dance between contemplation & scripture. DESCRIPTION:Learn the basics of climate change science\, the spiritual imperative to act\, and how to advocate for change.\n\n\nThe Climate Action Team at First Plymouth Church is offering anyone interested a chance to learn why climate change is a spiritual imperative\, the basics of climate change science\, and how to take action. \nThursday\, October 29 | ZOOM 7 PM\nLearn why climate change is a spiritual imperative and the basics of climate science.  The presenters will be Nebraska’s most famous climate scientist\, UNL Professor Emeritus Don Wilhite\, and David Lux\, Senior Pastor Emeritus at St. Paul’s UMC and part of the race for climate grace. \n\nThursday\, November 5\, Zoom 7 PM\nLearn the basics of advocacy.  By the end of the hour you’ll know what to say to an elected official\, how to offer testimony for a hearing\, and how to write a letter to the editor and otherwise engage the community.  Panelists will be former state Senator Ken Haar\, UNL Student and Field Advisor for Our Climate Kat Woerner\, and Lucas Sabalka\, a member of the Lincoln Electric System Board of Directors and a climate advocate.\n\n\n\nBoth sessions are free and are Zoom only.\nOne registration covers both sessions.\n\nRegister here to attend: \n https://catclimatechange.eventbrite.com

And that’s why we’re collaborating with Spring Creek Prairie—just on time for fall planting—to bring you… \nPlants for Birds: Change your Yard\, Community\, and Climate with Native Plants \nSpring Creek Prairie invites you to join us via Zoom on Tuesday\, August 25 from 6:30-8:00 pm to learn about native plants\, birds\, and a promising\, new faith coalition.  This event is kindly hosted by the Green Sanctuary Committee at Unitarian Church of Lincoln and the Green@Heart team from Westminster Presbyterian. The program will feature the Audubon Nebraska “Plants for Birds” team\, Cacey Wilken and Jason “the Birdnerd” St. Sauver\, followed by time for questions and discussion. \n      Topics will include information about the Plants for Birds program\, native plantings in the urban and suburban landscape\, advocating for native plant use at the city and state levels\, and a growing vision for a faith and climate coalition.  Our hope is to foster discussion and excitement around collective and individual action in support of creation care in Lincoln’s faith community and beyond.
