SUMMARY:Earth Care Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Earth Care and Creation Celebration 2024 \nCongratulations\, Westminster\, on being certified for the eleventh time as a PC(USA) Earth Care Congregation. This status speaks to the serious commitment that Westminster has made to care for God’s earth. To become an Earth Care Congregation\, our congregation has affirmed an Earth Care Pledge to integrate environmental practices and thinking into our worship\, education\, facilities\, and outreach. \nBeginning April 14th and continuing through May 12th we will be celebrating God’s creation—and our call to earth care—through many aspects of church life. Although our small green team\, Green@Heart\, coordinates much of Westminster’s earth care\, this is truly a commitment of the entire congregation.

SUMMARY:Easter Sunday Worship & Cinnamon Roll Bar
DESCRIPTION:Easter Worship is at 8 am & 10 am this Sunday. \nFollowing the 8:00am service\, the Children and Youth and Church Life Committees invite you to take a little time to enjoy conversation and home baked cinnamon rolls in the Garden Room. \n\n\n\nEaster – Luke 24:1-12 “And I Hope” \n“Christ is risen! Alleluia!” is our song of praise on Easter\, but on the first Easter there was a mix of uncertainty and caution amongst moments of praise. Considering the disciple Peter this Easter\, can we be people who will run toward hope – toward the empty tomb\, even after our own biggest failures\, losses and fears? On Easter\, the empty tomb\, the discovery by the women\, and Peter’s rush to see it all show that we can always begin again\, too.

SUMMARY:Good Friday Worship
DESCRIPTION:Good Friday – Multiple Scriptures from John “Prone to Leave the God I Love” \nA service of “Lessons and Reflections” will have us hearing scriptures that tell the story of Good Friday and the Passion narrative. After each we will briefly consider one image that stands out within each scripture. Good Friday is a service of reflection and remembrance\, and so we hope you will find your own image within the stories\, one that might call you to a closer walk with Christ.

SUMMARY:Maundy Thursday Worship
DESCRIPTION:Maundy Thursday Church-wide Dinner\, Communion and Worship | March 28 | 6:15 PM \n\n\n\nMaundy Thursday – John 13:1-20 “Streams of Mercy” \nIn a very brief reflection\, Pastor Chris will invite us to value the experience of faith with all of our senses. As the disciples felt the water as Jesus washed their feet\, tasted the gifts of grain and grape and the seder meal\, and felt the cool of the air as they moved toward the Garden of Gethsemane with Jesus… all senses were engaged. Our service will be less about hearing a sermon and more about experiencing community together\, preparing our hearts to go forth with love our song\, love our voice\, and love our calling.

SUMMARY:Palm Sunday
DESCRIPTION:Join us for Palm Sunday worship. We will have worship with a Palm Processional beginning at 9:30 am. \n\n\n\nPalm Sunday – John 12:12-16  “Songs of Loudest Praise” \nAs Jesus and the disciples enter Jerusalem\, we can imagine Peter amongst the disciples\, watching the singing and cheering crowds. When it comes to singing praise in our own lives of faith\, are we out loud or reserved\, leading or accompanying? How can we sing loud songs of praise as individuals and a community of faith this Palm Sunday and beyond?

SUMMARY:Souper Bowl of Caring
DESCRIPTION:On the weekend of February 11th\, 150 million Americans will watch the Super Bowl football game. There will be parties with food\, friendship\, and fellowship\, but at the same time\, there will be other people worried about staying warm and finding their next meal. The Westminster Lincoln Youth Group invites you to join with others around the country in demonstrating God’s love by loving our neighbors through the Souper Bowl of Caring. \nOur youth will join the drive again this year\, collecting money on the 11th for Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach and the Gathering Place in Lincoln. Matt Talbot has served the homeless and near homeless for nearly 28 years\, with feeding the hungry as the core of their mission. The Gathering Place was founded in 1982 and is a soup kitchen that provides over 27\,000 hot\, nourishing evening meals to those who are homeless\, near-homeless\, or otherwise food-insecure in Lincoln each year. \nWe ask you to join this important movement\, sharing God’s love with those in need. Please give generously on Super Bowl Sunday — look for youth group representatives holding soup pots by the sanctuary exits. Every dollar donated creates over $20 for food charities\, which means that a gift in any amount is greatly appreciated and truly makes a difference. Join us as we help #TackleHunger through @souperbowl. 100% of all donations benefit Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach and the Gathering Place.
