At Westminster our goal is to reach, teach and nurture children in the Christian faith and the Presbyterian tradition. Come explore the many ways we reach children through programs such as Sunday School and special events like Creative Arts Camp!

Nursery

The professional nursery staff provides infants with a safe and loving place so parents can take part in worship, adult education and fellowship activities during Sunday mornings at Westminster.  Care is available on the main level, across from the reception area, every Sunday from 7:45 to 11:45 a.m. Infants (birth to 18 months) are cared for by adults. Swings and cribs are used, as well as toys for motor skill development. Toddlers (18 to 36 months) are cared for by adults and youth volunteers. Snacks are provided, along with Bible stories and toys for fine motor development. Parents and care-givers may check out a beeper to stay connected with staff.

Preschool on Sundays

Classes meet on Sunday mornings, beginning at 10:30 a.m. worship and regrouping in Room 210 at 10:45 a.m. after the Children’s Conversation. Led by nurturing volunteers and utilizing the Wee Believe curriculum, the classes teach Bible-based stories of God and God’s People using a wide range of activities: stories, songs, crafts and games.

Preschool on Weekdays

Westminster Preschool offers preschool and extended day care for children ages 3 to 5 years old. We are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

Faith Village (Kindergarten-5th grade)

Classes meet in Faith Village on Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. (following the Children’s Conversation at 10:30 a.m. worship), and use the theory of multiple intelligences and workshop rotation model. Monthly themes help children go deeper into the Bible, and workshops in areas such as cooking, art, drama, music, computers, games, science, videos and storytelling help all children experience the stories in ways that are meaningful to them. Class sessions open with group songs, the Lord’s Prayer and an offering. Attendance is rewarded monthly and at the end of the school year.

Faith Building Blocks (Birth-9th grade)

This series of extra faith-building opportunities is designed to help children build a firm foundation of faith and strong sense of God’s love, and to give families opportunities to learn and grow in faith together, from baptism through confirmation. Most of these “blocks” are one-session classes outside of regular Sunday School, and are designed for participation by both parents and children. Children who are not regularly attending Sunday School are still encouraged to participate.
