Approaching The Golden Milestone

It was called the Golden Milestone. It stood at the center of Rome in the ancient Roman empire. The Golden Milestone was erected for two purposes. First, all roads radiated out from that spot. It let you know where things began. Second, as ―All roads lead to Rome, the Golden Milestone was their goal and destination. It was the heart of their country. No matter how far you had journeyed, as you approached the Golden Milestone, you knew you were home.

We have been on a journey for twelve years. We are approaching home. It started with the Centennial Celebration in which we put a beautiful and dramatic new face on the outside of the church building. And then we renovated almost everything, inside and out. We have run this marathon of projects from one side of the church to the other. And now, we are approaching the Golden Milestone.

In the last few months of this marathon, we want to celebrate along the way. So every adult member of the congregation is invited to come to the Embassy Suites on March 31st and join the festivities. It will be a time to remember all we have accomplished. Come and feel the inspiration of what has happened.

So many people have worked so long and hard. And so many people have given so generously. It has been a whole church effort. In the love and grace of God, we have done this together as a family of faith. I hope you come to remember where we began, to celebrate the journey and to say thank you.

And if you are a newer member, I especially encourage you to join us. You need to see what a truly amazing community this is, to which you now belong and are a part.

It has been an exhilarating marathon. And now, in the last few miles, we gather the crowd to cheer the runners on to the goal. I hope you can see the Golden Milestone up ahead, and join us in celebrating this great race.

Sincerely,

Andrew McDonald, Senior Pastor

P.S. Special thanks to the Westminster Foundation for their support of all these projects, and for paying for this dinner. Westminster is a stronger church because of the Foundation and its endowment programs.
